This is a 3 hour course which covers the following subjects

• catheter / colostomy types,
• role of district/stoma nurse,
• role of the care staff,
• dangers and routes of infection e.g. MRSA, personal hygiene
• procedures for emptying and bag replacement and effective care planning.

Students will devise a method statement/care plan for the treatment of a service user who is using a catheter.
