Aim

The aim of this three hour course is to allow carers to feel confident when dealing with service users medication.

Objectives

By the end of the session delegates will be able to :

• Identify where medicines are obtained from in the first place
• State what their company policy states in regards to safe storing of medicines
• Describe the procedure for recording and administrating medicines
• State what action they would take in the case of refusal to medicate.
• State what their company policy is regarding non-prescription drugs brought in by familiy or service user.
• Describe procedures to be taken in the event of adverse reaction to medication.
• Describe the disposal of unwanted medicines and retention.
