Food Hygiene Ratings on the up!!
On the 1 April 2007 four Tees Valley Councils joined forces to introduce a scheme know as the 'Tees Valley Food Hygiene Award' where all food businesses would be inspected and awarded a star rating 5 being excellent and 0 being poor.
Since the scheme has been launched the number of 5 star premises has rocketed from 24 to 85. At the other end of the scale the number of food outlets with no stars has dropped from 32 to just 3. The councils also launched a website to accompany the scheme, which gives details of all the star ratings for food outlets. The site so far has had more than 110,000 hits.
The Tees Valley Food Hygiene Award Scheme uses three factors which determine the number of stars to be awarded:
1 Food Hygiene and Safety
2 Structure and Cleaning
3 Management and Control
This scheme has proven to be so successful in the Tees Valley it's predicted that most other councils will be introducing it.
Here at Beyond Learning we specialise in Food Hygiene training so why don't you give us a call today and be well on your way to achieving 5 stars.
