Who the course is for

By educating your food handlers you can reduce the incidents of food poisoning caused by negligence or ignorance.  The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health has designed its Foundation courses to give front line workers an appreciation of the fundamentals of good food hygiene practice.

This one day course is a taught practical session, which concludes with a thirty question multiple choice examination.

The subject areas covered

• food poisoning,
  
• simple microbiology, toxins, spores, growth and death
  
• prevention of contamination and food poisoning,
  
• personal hygiene,
  
• premises/equipment/pest control,
  
• cleaning and disinfection,
  
• legislation.
• effective temperature control - storage, thawing, re-heating etc.
