ILM Level 3 Certificate in Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Managers

Course Description:

The focus of this qualification is on using coaching as an improvement tool, helping team leaders and first line managers to pass on their experience and expertise to others. 

Coaching, used properly, is a highly effective way of helping individuals to develop their performance to very high standards.

  • Evaluate and plan the use of resources
  • Communication skills in coaching
  • Record and assess learning

The Coaching Process for Managers
  • Agree learning goals for coaching
  • Plan a coaching programme
  • Undertake coaching in the workplace

Team leaders and first managers who have successfully completed the course can feel confident of their ability to coach professionally, and their employing organisations can benefit from the effective and efficient use of their time.

Structure and content

  • A short induction lasting 1 hour plus
  • Minimum 2 hours' tutorial guidance plus
  • One 15 hour and one 6 hour unit
  • PLUS 6 hours of practical coaching in the workplace.

Duration of the course

Minimum of 24 guided-learning hours, excluding assessment, plus 6 hours of practical activity which can take from 2 weeks to one year to complete.

Candidates who achieve the ILM Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring qualification will be eligible to apply for the minimum grade of Associate Membership (AMInstLM)
