Mentoring and coaching can be powerful tools for developing leadreship capability but only if the mentors and coaches possess the high-level knowledge, skills and personal qualities required to operate at this level.  Leadership developers, consultants and senior executives who have completed this programme will be better able to act as mentors and executive coaches for senior managers and others wishing to become more effective leaders.

Developing Leadership Through Mentoring And Executive Coaching

• Understanding leadership mentoring  and executive coaching
• Commitment to leadership mentoring and executive coaching
• Develop questioning and listening skills for coaching and mentoring
• Ethics, values and belief systems in action
• Support the growth of leadership capability

Leadership Mentoring and Executive Coaching Practice

• Diagnose, reflect on and plan to develop own skills, knowledge, attitudes and beliefs
• Engage actively in peer mentoring and coaching
• Undertake mentoring or coaching and reflect on own performance

Structure and content

• A short induction lasting 1 hour, plus
• Minimum 2 hours' tutorial guidance, plua
• One 30-hour and one 12-hour unit
• PLUS 12 hours of practical coaching/mentoring in the workplace.

Duartion of the course

Minimum of 45 guided learning hours, excluding assessment, plus 12 hours of practical coaching activity, to be completed normally within one year, or up to a maximum of 2 years.

Those who achieve the ILM Level 7 Coaching and Mentoring Qualification are eligible to apply for the full membership (MInstlLM).
